This year, The 94th Academy Awards which was held in the “Dolby Theatre” in Los Angeles on Sunday , was not only about red carpet and cinema but this year’s ceremony also saw the biggest drama and Will Smith took all the limelight after slapping Chris Rock.
Oscar saw ‘CODA’ winning Best Picture. Jessica Chastain won Best Actress and Best Actor was bagged by Will Smith. While Best supporting actress was won by Ariana DeBose in West Side Story and Best supporting Actor was won by Troy Kotsur and he became the first deaf man to win an Oscar. But the cast of Dune takes home the crown as they won Six oscar after they were nominated for TEN .Best Director won by Jane Campion for “The Power of the Dog”, She is now the third woman director to win an Oscar, following Kathryn Bigelow (in 2010 for The Hurt Locker) and Chloé Zhao (in 2021 for Nomadland). Meanwhile the Indian documentary ‘Writing with fire’ missed out on the trophy.

As celebrities often use the Oscar and red carpet to make a statement, this year stars showed their support for Ukraine with blue Ribbons including Jamie Lee Curtis, Samuel L Jackson and others wore a blue ribbon .
But spotlight won by Chris Rock being smacked by Will Smith. Chris Rock was on the stage to present Oscar for “Best Documentary Feature” and made a joke about jada pinkett Smith’s shaved head after which Will Smith got on to the stage and hit Chris. Even after all this, Chris declined to file a FIR against Will Smith. This was confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Oscar is facing a strong negative reaction from Indian fan after they forgot to pay tribute to Lata Mangeshkar and Dilip Kumar, Every year oscar pay tribute to the artist who recently passed away in their ‘memoriam segment’ but this year they didn’t pay tribute to Lata Mangeshkar and Dilip kumar which angered bollywood fans on the internet.
In its 2021 edition , Oscar did pay tribute to Irrfan Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput and Rishi Kapoor were honored on the website. The fans expressed their anger on Twitter, slamming the Academy for omitting the two Indian legends.
